Screen goddess Marilyn Monroe was discovered dead in her Los Angeles home early this morning.
Monroe's housekeeper phoned doctors when Monroe was unresponsive to her calls. Monroe was found naked and unresponsive in her bed, next to an empty bottle of sleeping pills. Doctors who arrived at the scene pronounced her dead shortly after.
A coroner has ruled her death a probably suicide, though no official autopsy has been administered.
Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jeane Baker, grew up in and out of foster homes before she was discovered by photographer David Conover.
The breathy actress took Hollywood by storm with her movies Some Like it Hot, The Seven Year Itch and Gentlemen Prefer Blonds. She was married to playwright Arthur Miller, baseball player Joe DiMaggio and has been linked to President Kennedy
