Photo slideshow assignment

Page history last edited by laurenspuhler@... 1 yr ago

Submit a sequence of 10-13 photographs that tell a story. Write headline, summary and introduction (3-4 grafs). Find at least two to three links to go with your story. All photos should be resized to max width, height of 500 pixels.

Write captions for all photos.

Due Tuesday, Sept. 23

Create a story in TNJN.com admin and follow the usual steps. This time, include your photos, captions, credit information in the "story images" section. Double check your work and save this in "Ready for Grading" mode.

Use these instructions if you need a refresher on creating the slide show: creating_slideshows.doc

Things to think about

  • Choose any subject, but the entire sequence should visually tell a story.
  • A good story has characters in action.
  • Have a beginning, middle, and an end.
  • Think location, time, and atmosphere.

Your story is going online, you want it to be as "clean" as possible. Type it in Text Pad, Note Pad, a plain text editor - NOT Microsoft Word. This means spell checking is up to you.

Check and double check names, titles, etc. Nothing will sink your credibility faster than a typo.

Photo Slideshow Examples:

Exploring Governor's Island (NY Times)

A frustrating year in the boat (SF Chronicle)

Measuring Methane in Alaska and Siberia (NPR)

The Game: All Rained Out (The Monitor)

The State of the World (Reuters)

VisualEdge.org - amazing multimedia presentations - you really should check them out. Great examples of all the cool storytelling tools you can use online.
