News brief assignment

Page history last edited by laurenspuhler@... 1 yr ago

Report on an event.  Find an event to cover or advance an event in the area in about 3-4 grafs. Remember to think about a tight lede (25 word max) and a solid angle. You don't have a lot of room to elaborate so keep the key information and ditch the rest.

Due Thursday, Sept. 11

Post your completed story, complete with links, in TNJN before Thursday's class.

Interview at least two sources, collect additional information, research and bring completed story to class on THURSDAY.

Find links to Web sites that provide additional information to go along with your story. Shoot for three links.

Your story is going online, you want it to be as "clean" as possible. Type it in Text Pad, Note Pad, a plain text editor - NOT Microsoft Word. This means spell checking is up to you.

Check and double check names, titles, etc. Nothing will sink your credibility faster than a typo.

Possible ideas: A band's upcoming show, previewing a football game, a fund-raiser going on on campus, or cover an event the day it happens.
