Breaking News
Choose any breaking news story in history (for example, Nixon resignation, Challenger explosion, Elvis or Marilyn dies) and decide how, if that story had broken in the multimedia age of today, you would cover it.
- Outline how you would report the story with multimedia.
- Detail who you would talk to and what elements you would include.
- Look for photos, video, the original news stories to include in your report.
- What's the headline? What's the summary/tease?
- Other multimedia ideas: video, audio, graphics, timeline, maps, slide show, audio slide show, poll, etc. Think about what multimedia is most relevant to the story you choose.
Post your report on the class blog by Tuesday, Sept. 30. (Use the headline for your blog post title and start with the summary/tease).
Here is a good example from last semester's class: Marilyn Monroe dead at 36
